Filing papers etc.; portfolios.-A portfolio or temporary cover for magazines, periodicals, music scores, and the like comprises covers a, a hinged metal &c. plate b, and hooks c, d which engage with spring pressure between the leaves of the magazine &c. The stationary hook c and sliding hook d are held on the plate b by clips b2, and a crank d2 on the former is adapted to engage an eye c2 in the hook c, a slide b5 serving to hold the two parts in engagement. The hook c is preferably made larger than the hook d. The plate b is hinged to the cover a by means of a cloth strip b1, Fig. 9, which is folded around and cemented to the plate band also has its ends cemented, as shown, to the cover. Both of the hooks c, d may, if desired, be made to slide upon the plate b.
