Mounting and securing toothed gearing on shafts.- In order to obviate the breakage and injury to the toothed wheels actuating the doffer of a carding- engine, a toothed wheel 19, driven from the takerin, is mounted on a sleeve 38 fixed to a pedestal on the side frame, and catches 44 in its boss are engaged by projections 43 on a sleeve 41 fixed to the shaft of the doffer by a set screw 42.
