410. Irvine, A. J., and Mills, D. Jan. 7. Priming, preventing; steam separators.-Relates to the use of wire-gauze in roll form in priming- prevention devices and in steam separators. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the vessel A is placed with its upper edges c in contact with the top of the boiler B surrounding the steam outlet b. Apertures are made in the edges, forming the inlets through which the steam passes from the steam space of the boiler, and are graduated or increased in number or area'the farther they are removed from the outlet b, the object being to equalize the flow of steam, as set forth in Specification No. 20,937, A.D. 1905. Wire-gauze rolls C are placed in the path of the steam, as shown. Indentations E are constructed in the bottom of the vessel A to add to the heating- surface and so facilitate the re - evaporation of the separated moistures. In the form shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the vessel is in the form of a pipe A which has, on either side of the T-piece, hoods F, preferably removable, covering the graduated openings a. The hoods contain the rolls of gauze C and have graduated openings f. In a further modification, the hoods are dispensed with and the gauze lies in a roll inside the pipe A.
