21,279. Hudig, J. Sept. 25. Tilting stands.-To facilitate filtration in laboratories &c., a number of flasks, from each of which liquid is being poured into a separate filter, are rotatably mounted in a stand to allow of adjustment of the inclination of the flasks and thus of the rate of supply. The shaft 2 is provided with holders for the heads of the flasks, comprising recessed wooden blocks 5, wire hoops 6, and clamping-rings 7 with tension plates 8. Each block 5 is attached to a socket 4 which can be turned by a worm-wheel 10 engaging with a worm 12. The spindle of the worm is carried in a guide 11 attached to the shaft, and can be clamped to the guide by a nut 15 on a pin passing through a slot 16. For a slow adjustment the spindle is rotated ; for a rapid one, the clamp is released and the spindle pushed longitudinally. Bent wires 9 support a glass rod down which the liquid is poured into the filter. When the precipitate is washed in the flask, this can be shaken by reciprocating the spindle 12.
