Drying tea &c.-In a chamber in which tea &c. is dried on endless bands, louver trays, &c., and which is supplied at one end with air from a heater, this end or its upper parts only is left open, and the air escapes at the lower parts of the sides, preferably into spaces formed by a casing surrounding the drying-chamber. in the apparatus shown, the open end D of the chamber is controlled by a counterbalanced baffle-plate E. The air passes from a heater B through the open end into the drying-chamber, and escapes into a casing F surrounding the drying-chamber, or a part of it.
