Pottery.-Vases, flowerpots, pedestals, umbrella stands, clock - sets, jardinieres, &c. are ornamented, after being moulded, by applying clay rope or chain work b in any suitable pattern. The rope or chain work may be arranged to form a panel c designed to receive a lithograph, and further rope work may then be applied around the first panel for the reception of further lithographs or for decoration in colours. After the ware has been subjected to " bisque " and " glost " firings, the rope work, handles, &c. are enamelled or gilded, and the ware is finally kiln-fired.
