The sbaft C of the starting-handle H of a motor-car engine has a pinclutch connexion with. the motor shaft A and also with h a sleeve D which can only rotate in one direction, so that, should pre.ignition occur, the sleeve D is held stationary and thus causes the shaft C to be drawn out of engagement with the shaft A.
