17,777. Edwards D. July 30. Rotary machines; inking-apparatus.-A rotary machine of the kind in which a number of impressions are taken from the same plate, at each revolution, each printing-cylinder coacting with several impression cylinders, is constructed so as to print alternately on each side of the web in alternate positions. To form an eight-page perfected product, each of two cylinders a, b is fitted with a complete set of plates upon one-half of its circumference, the other half circumference of each being formed as ink-distributing surfaces arranged at a lower level than the printing-plates. The cylinders a, b each coact with two impression cylinders c', c2, d', d2, respectively, the impression formed by these cylinders alternating with each other on the opposite sides of the webs so that a complete perfected eight-page product is formed at each complete revolution of the printing-cylinders. The ink-distributing surfaces on the cylinders are supplied by cam-actuated rollers a', and the ink is applied to the plates by rollers a2, a3 arranged as shown.
