Electricallyreleased switches; sparking, preventing.-In an electric welder or the like, the " hold-on" coil of the main switch 23 is energized from a separate source 29, and has in series with it a lamp or other resistance 27 to act as an indicator and also as a resistance to prevent sparking. A lamp or other resistance 28 is also provided in parallel to reduce further any tendency to spark at the contacts 12, 13 due to induction discharge when the "hold-on" coil is de-energized at the end of the weld by the opening of contacts 12, 13. A similar arrangement of circuits is shown in connexion with a solenoid-operated main switch.
