Cage lifts.-In safetyguards or barriers of the kind described in Specification 3821/06, horizontal bars B slide upon uprights C, which are formed with cylindrical portions of different diameters, the holes in the bars being also of different sizes, so that the bars, when allowed to slide downwards, are arrested at different parts of the uprights. A hook H at the top of the cage retains the bars when they are not in use.
