Lift valves; fluids, regulating volume of flow of. - A lift valve for use in connexion with filters &c. comprises a nipple c, which is bulged or expanded to form a pocket d to receive a cone-shaped head g formed on an adjustable pipe e. The liquid from the filter &c. passes through the nipple c and past the valve g, enters the pipe e through lateral apertures h, and leaves through a second valve l and aperture n. The pipe e is fitted with a series of baffles j on a shaft i, which break up the stream of fluid and prevent an undesirable suction which would tend to pack the filtering-material with the solid residue.
