Gas supply; blowpipe burners.-In oxy-acetylene and other blowpipes, and in dissolved acetylene and like containers, in order to hinder the propagation of an explosive wave, the porous material used consists of metallic elements such as wire, or shavings preferably of uniform size compressed in a mould to a matted mass so as to give the required degree of porosity. The degree of compression may be varied, and a water manometer may be used to ascertain the correct amount.
