Fore-carriage turning- plates. -In horse-drawn vehicles, the bearing- rings of the fore-carriage connexion are provided with interlocking projections and grooves, which are arranged in such a manner that the segments or rings can only become separated when the fore-carriage is turned into a position which is not assumed during normal working, a king-bolt being dispensed with. One form is described in which an upper bearing-ring is provided at irregular intervals with ribs a of T or other undercut section and the lower ring is formed with a correspondingly-shaped groove. The retaining- flanges of the groove are cut away at intervals in such a manner that the projecting ribs a can be introduced into the groove when the two rings are in one relative position but in no other. The rings are arranged to occupy this position when the fore - carriage is turned through 180 degrees from its normal position. In the Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), the application to coupÚs, victorias, drays, &c. is mentioned, the lighter vehicles being fitted with segments instead of complete rings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
