Preserving m e a t, vegetables, &c.-To prevent the formation of mildew o r moisture upon meat, vegetables, &c. when introduced into a cold - storage chamber, dry warm air is first passed into the chamber and the moisture - laden air is discharged outside the chamber. In one form o f apparatus, t h e chamber is fitted with cooling - pipes d and heating - pipes c. Air is forced by a fan in a box e along passages f and over the pipes d, where it is cooled and dried. The air then flows over the heated pipes c, and, rising in the chamber, is exhausted through the duct h. When the contents of the chamber are dried, the heating liquid is shut off and they are then cooled. The heating and cooling pipes may be arranged in a separate chamber.
