7897. K÷rner, A. April 1. Caretakers.-A swinging hook d is adapted to be closed down on to a fixed hat-peg a and clothes-hook b but is only secured in the closed position by a locking-lever i if a coin has been inserted, a key r being simultaneously freed so that it can be removed by the operator. To lock the apparatus, the operator inserts a coin and closes down the hook d into the position shown in full lines, Fig. 1, whereupon a projection d11 on the hook working in an aperture h in the casing k raises the arm t2 of a spring- controlled lever t, thereby rocking a spring- controlled lever p so as to free the key r and permit a spring w to raise the tail i1 of the lever i into locking position behind the projection d11 of the hook. A tumbler n serves to retain the lever i in the locking position. To unlock the caretaker, the operator inserts the key and presses back the locking-lever. Coin action, mechanical-connexion. - The inserted coin resting on a support e forms a connexion between the levers t, p.
