Materials, special, for tiles; ornamenting tiles.-Mother of pearl is embedded in or mixed with coloured cement mortar of a fluid or semi-fluid consistency, and the mass is submitted to heavy pressure in moulds, which may be of the same area as the tile required, or much larger. After the mass in the mould has set and been allowed to dry for about fifteen days, it is cut or trimmed to the required size and the interstices are filled in with coloured Portland or other cement of good quality. The tiles are then allowed to harden for another fifteen days, after which they are cut to the precise dimensions and polished.
