Shelters for housing aerial machines.-A swinging door for an air-ship shed consists of a wide carriage pivoted to the ground at one or both ends and carrying a series of masts which are fitted with louver or sliding shutters and are stayed by ropes on the carriage Fig. 1 shows one of a pair of folding doors. The carriage b1 is pivoted at a1 and runs on circular tracks d ; it may be weighted to prevent tilting, and may be provided with weights which can be run out laterally. The door, when open, occupies the position shown in dotted lines. The weight is taken off the wheels, when stationary, by means of screwed spindles p5, Fig. 10, which may be provided with claws to grip the rails. Fig. 3 shows the louver shutters h between the masts e. Fig. 6 shows a single door to cover the whole width of opening and fitted with turntables n1, n2 and corresponding tracks l, m, so that the door can turn on either end. Fig. 8 shows the sliding shutters, the upper two of which can be lowered to reduce the wind pressure on the door.
