Screw - and - nut mechanism.-In the stripping and cleaning of carding - engines by means of a traversing suction nozzle 11, handoperated means are provided for disconnecting at will the nozzle carrier 10 from the traversing- screw 3. The carrier 10 is mounted on tubular guides 5, 6, and is disconnected from the traversing-screw 3 by pressing together, against the action of a spring 20, the handle-portions 18 of pivoted arms 16, 17, the extremities of which form a split nut 14 engaging the traversing-screw.
