Sleeves and legs; jerseys &c.-Knitted garments are provided with one or more contractible and expansible parts having an elastic band enclosed between the garment fabric without doubling or folding this fabric. The garment, such as a pair of knickers, is made of single-ply fabric 3 until the point is reached where an elastic band is required, such as the ends of sleeves and legs and at the waist. The method of knitting is then changed and a double-ply fabric is made having two walls 3c, 3f to enclose a rubber band 1. When a length of double ply has been made, sufficient to enclose the elastic, the single-ply fabric is resumed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18,518/94, 8396/12, and 21,432/13.
