Commutator motor meters.-The brushes b1, b2 of an armature rotating in the field of a permanent magnet are both adjustable, one b1 being operated by a series coil c1 to compensate for friction, and the other b2 operated by a pressure coil c2 so that the registration is proportional to energy. The brushes are mounted on levers d1, d2 carrying the coils c1, c2. Either two commutators, as shown, of special form, or a single commutator may be used. The coils move over pole-pieces e1, e2 on the magnet. Both brushes may be displaced axially by the current and rotated by the pressure, or vice versa. Or the brushes may be stationary, and the commutators movable.
