Systems for continuous-current motors only.-A continuous-current motor 2 is started by the lowtension current obtained from a motor-generator 1 driven from the high-tension mains, and regulators 3, 5 for the motor-generator and main motor are provided, the arrangement being such that the initial movement of the arm 6 of the main motor regulator is prevented unless the voltage of the low-tension supply has dropped to a predetermined value. The arm 6 is controlled by an electromagnet 7, which is energized by the low-tension current and provided with a pivoted armature 8 having a stop 9, which prevents the movement of the arm 6 until the low-tension current has dropped to the predetermined value. When the armature is released, the arm 6 can be moved on to the contacts 11, where it is held by a second stop 10 ; in this position, the solenoid switch 16 is closed to supply the low-tension current to the motor 2, and the solenoid 17 is energized in order to cut out the resistance 3 in series with the generator field winding and raise the value of the low-tension current. The armature 8 is then attracted again to release the arm 6 from the stop 10, and the arm is moved on to the contact bars 13 and the control studs, the motor then being run from the high-tension mains and disconnected from the motor-generator.
