Starting torque control for D.C. motor with large loads - adds extra continuous function to required current value for starting

The starting torque control, is used in conjunction with d.c. motors with large loads, and adds in a continuous function to the required value quantity of the current so that the armature current after starting falls to the level represented by the required value quantity for continuous operation under normal running conditions. The initial value of the armature current may be either independent of or dependent on the representative quantity; similarly the additional function may be either dependent on or independent of the representative quantity, but its duration is dependent on the speed of the d.c. motor. The armature current in falling from its initial to its steady state value may follow a given curve when plotted against time.
