[Addition to 13,256/14.] Bed-reciprocating apparatus.-In the apparatus described in the parent Specification, in which the bed is driven through the main parts of the printing and return strokes at uniform speed by racks and gear-wheels, the reversal is effected by means of a single crank-pin operating two connecting-rods pivotally connected to slides which are locked to the bed during the reversal. According to this invention, two crank-pins are used each operating its own connecting-rod and slide, and each effecting the reversal at only one end of the travel of the bed. Fig. 5 shows diagrammatically the position of the parts when the bed 11 is approaching the end of the printing stroke (i.e. to the left) and is in process of being locked by means of its hanger 38 to the slide 35 operated by the rod 31 from the crank-pin 30a. The second crank-pin 30 operates the rod 32 and slide 36 for reversing the bed at the other end of its travel. The slides co-operate with the bed as described in the parent Specification. The two crank-pins 30, 30a are on opposite sides of the hanger 38 and are similarly arranged and driven, but in opposite directions.
