[Cognale Application, 384/16.] Loops.-Means for fastening ships' wire ropes a, usually having looped ends b, to mooring buoys, rings, &c. c consists of a metal sleeve d tapered to fit the splicing and provided with an elbow projection g on one side, to which a shackle j on the loop. or the loop itself, is attached so as to be readily removable. When a shackle is used, the elbow is slotted as shown in Fig. 3.
