摘要
106,186. Whittaker, H. M. July 25, 1916. Folding.-A machine for folding treasury notes, bank notes, bills, and other paper sheets comprises a table A on which the sheet is placed against register stops B, B1 and is folded by a pair of parallel blades D through an opening C in the table into a receiver or gate L of W-section. Between the blades D is a brake block H supported yieldingly by rods I and springs K on the arm E carrying the blades D. This block nips the centre fold line and holds it while the blades fold the two lateral wings of the sheet down into the gate in zig-zag form. The arm E is on a vertical slide e moved downwards by a cam F on the shaft G and raised by springs G1. The gate L is in two parts each on a pivot N so that they may swing, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 2, when the vertical blade m is moved forward to fold the sheet at right-angles out of the gate through rollers R, whence it passes into a trough T. The blade m is on a slide M moved forward by a cam S and returned by a spring M'. A cam-operated slide Y pushes the sheet along the trough T against a weight W and past retaining catches V. A fixed bracket E1 above the arm E guides the rods I. The gates L are oscillated by rods Q, connecting them to the pusher slide M, and springs P.
