107,307. Howie, R. W. Sept 15, 1916. Hay-bogies.-The winding-drum 1 of a rick-shifter is freely mounted on the axle c of the vehicle and is driven by gearing, and the winding-ropes 3 pass over pulleys 4, preferably adapted to swivel, at the front of the vehicle. The gearing may comprise a pinion 6 on the drum engaging a pinion 7 which is driven by a pinion 10 on the spindle 15 of the driving- crank 14. To reduce the speed, the spindle 15 can be moved endways to cause the pinion 10 to engage a pinion 9 provided with a pinion 8 engaging the pinion 7. The crank may be detachably secured to the spindle 15 by the engagement of a spring catch on the crauk with a lug on the spindle.
