摘要
109,516. Marks, E. C. R., (Norton Grinding Co.). Oct. 19, 1916. Guides and rests.-Consists of a steady rest for supporting cylindrical rotating bodies upon work tables in grinding &c. machines. The stand 10, which may be moved along and clamped in any position to the table T is formed with an inwardly extending projection 22 which rests upon the surface of the table substantially below the level of the rotating work Y, and the support 11 for the guide shoe 12 is movably connected to the stand at its upper end, as by links 24, and has its lower end supported upon the projection, as by means of a roller 30. As shown, the roller is grooved to engage a rib on the stand and is mounted in a block, pivoted to the support at 35 and adjustable by means of a screw 36 and plunger 38 for the purpose of raising and lowering the support in relation to the stand. The support may be formed with side wings to form a casing for the roller &c. The stand may be clamped to the bed by means of a lever 19 adapted to bear on a longitudinal bar 21 and operated by a toggle 17, 18. In a modification, the roller 30 is mounted in the end of the adjusting-plunger; the roller may however be replaced by a lever and link, the lever, pivoted on the lower end of the stand, being coupled at one end to the support, by means of the link, and engaging at the other end with the adjusting-plunger.
