111,938. Platt Bros. & Co., and Bancroft, G. Jan. 13, 1917. Guards, controlling.-A guard for use with the tin rollers of ring spinning or ring doubling machines and similar pulleys is coupled to the starting-handle of the machine in such a way that it can only be moved from its protecting position when the machine has been stopped. The guard d has a projecting web or fin e which can be moved towards one or other of the tin rollers a. when it is required to place a band in position, but this movement is prevented when the machine is working by an arm u engaging in the angle of a wedge-shaped fork o on a rotary shaft m connected by rods q, r to the starting-handle t. The fork is curved concentrically to the axis of the shaft m. When the machine has been stopped, the arm u lies in the wide part of the fork, enabling the guard d to be rotated. The fork o may be replaced by a pair of adjustable inclined rods or fingers.
