Organs or pianofortes combined with apparatus for producing spectacular effects. - Lights of various colours controlled from the keys are selected in accordance with a definite colour scale in relation to the musical scale, and may be of variable intensity. In one arrangement one set of electric contacts are operated by the strikers of a piano-player and two separate sets by the piano keys, giving three degrees of illumination. Or the intensity may be regulated in accordance with the wind pressure in an organ, or other instrument, by a switch actuated by an auxiliary bellows. Electric lamps in parabolic reflectors with coloured glass, gelatine, &c. screens project the light on to a reflecting or translucent surface, and flowers, figures, &c. may be interposed to produce shadow effects.
