Band or coil.-The means for applying an internal band brake described in the parent Specification are adapted for an arrangement comprising two independently operable semicircular bands acting upon a common drum. Fixed stops 10, 11 are disposed between the free ends of the bands 6. 61 and to these stops, levers 14, 14a carrying rollers 15, 16 are pivoted. Members 12, 12a connected by links 13, 13a to the levers 14, 14a are pivoted upon eccentric or crank pins 20, 20a on operating shafts 21, 21a. The bands are supported by fixed segments 4, 5 and are held from contact with the drum by the pressure of springs 24 on pins 23 fixed to the bands. Application cf the band 6 is effected by turning the shaft 21, thereby rocking the levers 14 and pressing the ends of the band against the drum by the rollers 16. The rotation of the drum then carries one or other of these ends against one of the stops 10, 11 and completes the engagement of the band. The band 61 is similarly applied by turning the shaft 21a.
