摘要
127,628. Wolseley Motors, Ltd., and Remington, A. A. May 3, 1917. Drawings to Specification. Regulating.-The volume of the combustion chamber of the engines of flying-machines is designed so that the engine may draw in a cylinder full of air at high altitudes, at which it should work best, and in order that the compression may not be too great at low altitudes, the timing and lift of the admission and exhaust valves are adjusted by hand or automatically as the air pressure changes to avoid too rich a mixture at high altitudes and too poor a mixture at low altitudes. The fuel may be simultaneously regulated. To adjust the lift, the cam-shaft may be carried in bearings which are raised and lowered so as to adjust the position of the cams relatively to that of the valves; or a wedge-shaped distance-piece may be adjusted between the valves and their cams. The timing may be adjusted by driving the cam-shaft through adjustable screw gearing.
