Reachers and long-arms. - A fruit-picking appliance comprises two hemispherical receptacles a, c mounted respectively on a long stick b and a short stick d which are connected by pivoting the stick d on a bracket e carried by the stick b. A slide f normally pulled upwards by springs g1, g2 is provided with a cam portion cut away at an angle of about 25 degrees which is adapted to engage a corresponding face on the end of the stick d and thus to force the two receptacles a, c together. A cord i is provided for pulling down the slide to permit the members a, c to open for the introduction of the fruit. In the Provisional Specification the sticks b, dare described as carrying wire jaws to hold the fruit.
