Sieves with compound motion.-Apparatus for grading tea or like material of the kind embodying a plurality of superposed inclined sieves to which an horizontal circular movement is imparted by crank mechanism, comprises in combination a main frame, crank mechanism for supporting and driving the frame a plurality of independent superposed inclined frames each containing a sieve and rigidly but removably secured in the main frame and an outlet from each sieve situated at the lowest end. The main frame a is supported and driven by cranks d which are actuated by transmission gear e. Inclined frames containing the sieves bare adjustably fixed in slotted guides c mounted upon the frame a. Each sieve has an outlet f and is preferably provided with deflecting-plates g for imparting a swirling motion to the tea. The material which passes through one sieve is fed to the next by means of shoots h.
