Power-hammers.-A smith's hammer is operated by a power driven cam j so shaped that when moved axially by a treadle p the lift and hence the blow of the tup h is varied. The tup is carried by a head d' sliding in guides d and engaged by a lever e which is pressed down by a spring y. lever w, and roller x, and has a roller e1 engaged by the cam.
