Air supply, regulating.-The supply of air through a passage 19 to the ash-pit of a sectional boiler furnace is regulated by a damper 33 controlled by variations of temperature or pressure in the boiler, and the damper is adapted to be closed independently by a counterweighted hand-lever 36 mounted on a shaft 34 provided with an arm 38 to engage the lever 31. A metallic collapsable bellows 23 is arranged within an aperture 22 formed in the rear section 12 of the boiler and secured in position by a plate 24. Increase of pressure in the boiler causes the bellows to collapse against the action of a spring 30 and through the spindle 27 actuate the lever 31 and damper 33 to close the passage 19. A decrease of pressure in the boiler allows the spring 30 to extend the bellows and actuate the lever 31 to open the damper. A small aperture in the damper allows air to pass to the ash-pit at all times.
