Improvements in means for applying lampblack to the surface of metal moulds

Mould materials.-Relates to apparatus for applying lamp black to moulds as described in Specifications 199,390 and 204,688 and consists in mounting the burner on a radial arm. The burner A has a spherical seating at B2 on an arm B free to swing round the axis O-O of the machine and also vertically about a pivot B3 under the control of a curved cam track D. The arm is engaged by a plate G carried by a mould part and caused to move up the track D. During this motion a pin K engages a latch J2 on a spring controlled rock shaft H linked to oscillate the burner to cause a more even deposit. As the arm rises on the track it trips from the plate G and returns by gravity. On the return stroke the latch swings idly over the pin K. The burner oscillating gear may be omitted.
