Improved manufacture of composite cork discs for bottle closures and other purposes

Packing discs for stoppers.- A cork disc comprises two outer discs 10, 11 of high quality cork and an inner disc 12 of inferior quality cork united together by cement 13, 16 applied to the margins only of the surfaces of the discs. As shown, the thickness of the inner disc is twice that of either of the outer discs. In modifications the discs are united by a strip of adhesive paper applied to their edges or by sewing, wire staples, or rivets of yielding material covered with wax.
