Wood, treating with liquids.-A vessel for treating wood stocks with liquid preparatory to the manufacture of veneer, mechanical pulp, &c. has its lower surface semi-cylindrical, the inlet edge 7 being at a higher level than the outlet edge 8, and is provided with a rotatable wing or shovel wheel, the shaft 4 of which is at the axis of the lower surface. The stocks are supplied from a conveyer 10 at one side and are carried round, a.s the wing wheel rotates, and discharged over the edge 8 on to an incline 11. The wheel is rotated by the stocks fed into the basin at the inlet edge, so that the time during which the . stocks are treated is determined by the rate at which they are fed. Heating devices may be provided.
