252,242. Crabtree, W. A. Feb. 19, 1925. Corrugating. - In a machine for producing circumferential 'corrugations in cylindrical sheet metal containers, a corrugated upper roll 2 coacts with a lower roll 3, which is provided with splined sleeves 9, 9a. The rolls are driven through gearing 14, 15, 15a from pulleys 16. The upper roll may be swung aside about a pivot stud 6b into the position shown in Fig. 2 to allow the work to be positioned. The lower roll is moved upwardly by screws 6, 6a actuated by worm gearing 7, 7a. In operation the work is held longitudinally by guide sleeves 13, 13a, and the sleeves 9, 9a are first brought to a central position and the middle portion of the work corrugated. The roll 3 is then lowered and the sleeves moved axially by a right and left hand threaded spindle 11, the operation being repeated until the whole of the work is corrugated.
