Borehole apparatus.- Means for supporting casing, tubing &c. in oil well drilling &c. comprises a body 7 with upstanding annular ribs 8, 20 between which is fixed a cam member 12 cooperating with a. similar cam member 17 on a collar 16 which receives the usual serrated' wedge slips 19 which hold the casing &c. 10. While supporting the casing, the collar 16 is in the raised position shown and is held therein by a leaf spring 24 fixed to the body 7 and engaging a groove in the collar; when the slips are to be released, the leaf spring is freed by means of a cam lever 26 and the collar is rotated so that it descendls, the inner annular rim 20 then engaging the slips to free them from the collar. When the device is to be used without employing such slip releasing means, the collar 16 is held in its upper position by bolting pivoted links 23 to lugs 21 on the collar.
