ResTech, through GRI's support, has developed a cased hole log evaluation process which is superior for locating bypassed gas. The capability of using all log data, open or cased, from more than one source is an advantage not offered by any software vendor or service company. Data from previous log runs, particularly porosity logs, enhance interpretation by providing additional input data. By processing these measurements along with newly acquired cased hole measurements, accurate evaluations for porosity, water saturation, and lithology can be made. Using the software package, and integrating the efforts between petrophysical, geological, geophysical, and engineering departments within companies, bypassed and compartmentalized gas can be found and exploited. ResTech has used the concept in the successful evaluation of two fields. The first, test located in Port Arthur Field identified a zone which ultimately produced over 400 MMCFG and 18,000 barrels of condensate. The second test, in Seeligson Field has identified several bypassed zones to be completed later in 1988.
