Axles.-In a plough or other implement or machine having a removable wheel axle extending at right angles from a fixed bar or rod, the axle consists of a sleeve or bush shaped at one end to fit around the supporting bar or rod and to surround the inner end of the wheel hub to form a dust cover or protector, the outer end of the hub also being provided with a dust cover or protector. The axle B shown in Fig. 2 is socketed to fit on the bar A and is secured by a bolt D passing through it. The securing nut E, in conjunction with a plate or washer F, retains the hub C in position. The plate F is shaped to fit over the end of the hub C and to fit on the squared end of the axle B. The inner end of the axle is flanged to fit over the inner end of the hub C. The axle B shown in Fig. 4 is slotted to fit on the bar A and is adjustably secured on it by two bolts G and a clamping plate G1. The head of the hub-retaining bolt D is located within the slotted part B1, and the retaining plate F bears against the end of the hub C and a sleeve or liner C1. A cap A is screwed on the hub C.
