Mattresses.-A wire seating surface or mattress comprises spiral springs 1 supporting a resilient wire web 5 consisting of helically coiled interwoven wires running transversely of the length of the supporting surface, the web 5 resting on but being unconnected to the springs 1 and being secured to the springy foundation as its edges only, as by wires 5 connecting it to the frame 3. The ends of the interwoven wires may expand beyond the foundation and may be secured in wire helices 6, 7 to form selvedges, and the springs 1 may be connected together at top and bottom by helical wires 2.
