Goafs and the like, filling.-Disused workings &c. in mines are filled with rubble which is dumped at 14 by trucks, belts, shoots, &c. and is filled in at 2 by a scraper &c. 13 moved to and fro by a rope 6 passing over pulleys 7, 8 to two winding drums adjacent to the point 14, the rear wall of the scraper being preferably movable so as to pass below the rubble on its return movement, and assume its operative position on forward movement. The rubble is preferably deposited over the end of a shoot 4 adjustably mounted on a slide 3 and carrying a pulley 5 for the haulage rope.
