Cupping and like pneumatic appliances. - An appliance for removing foreign bodies from the gullets of animals, particularly ruminants comprises a rubber tube 1 reinforced with helically wound wire and having an enlarged end 2 furnished with a soft rubber lip 3 of wedge section adapted closely to engage the foreign body. The other end of the tube is provided with a nipple 4 which may be secured to a nipple 5 of a suction pump 6 by a flexible tube. Spring-pressed lever valves 12, 13 are provided on the pump 6 and a hand-operated relief valve 9 may be provided on the tube 1. In use the tube 1 is introduced into the gullet and pressed into contact with the foreign body which is then held by the vacuum induced in the tube by the pump 6 and removed with the tube. The tube 1 may be formed with two branches at its upper end, one branch receiving the pump 6 and the other housing a flexible shaft operated by an external handle and carrying a drill to transfix the foreign body. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the valves of the pump 6 may be ball valves and that a sieve may be provided in the tube 1. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
