Process for the preservation and transport of seed in tropical and sub-tropical countries and under similar conditions

Grain and other vegetable seeds are dried in dry air or in vacuo, at a temperature of about 35 DEG C., and are introduced into glass or metal containers holding only sufficient for a single sowing. The containers are exhausted, and nitrogen, argon, krypton, neon, dry helium, or dry air is allowed to enter at any suitable pressure and the containers are hermetically sealed. The seeds may be first subjected to an anti-parasitic and anti-cryptogamic treatment. Specification 2643/09, [Class 49, Food &c.], is referred to.
