[Class 87 (ii).] Rods of casein &c. having a multicoloured cross section are extruded by an apparatus comprising members 1 bolted together and having chambers 3 to which the differently coloured materials are supplied. The chambers are partly closed by screens 5 having slots through which the materials pass from the chambers 3 into dies formed by slotting a bar 6 with staggered slots 7, 8 on opposite sides, the slots opening into the lower face 9 of the bar. The extruded ribbons pass into a combining chamber formed by split members 11, and thence through a split extension die 12. The die bar may be arcuate and the end walls of the combining chamber may be tapered.
