[Class 38 (iv).] Regulation, automatic.-In a system of paralleled a.c. machines T1 . . T4 in which the wattless current is evenly distributed by providing a wattless current regulator G1 . . G4 on each machine, the current coil C1 . . C4 of which is connected to the secondary of a current transformer tl .. t4 associated with the machine feeder, and all the secondaries s1 . . s4 of the current transformers are connected in series in a ring, the machines are connected to act as trailers to a master machine which is regulated solely to control the voltage of the system and has a current transformer S the secondary of which is in series in the ring formed by the secondaries of the former current transformers t1 .. t4. The voltage coils V1 .. V4 of the wattless current regulators G1 . . G4 are connected to potential transformers such as P on their respective machines. The regulators may be of the Tirrill type and switch gear of the double pole make-before-break type may be provided to energize or open-circuit the current coil on the main control regulator of a machine according to whether the machine is to run as a trailer or a master machine. The current transformer secondary of a standing machine may similarly be isolated from the current transformer ring main.
