[Class 35.] In an eddy-current motor for phonographs, a cup-shaped rotor is attached to the turntable and extends between the stator electromagnet and a magnetic cup which contains, and completes the' magnetic circuit of, the stator electromagnet. In the form shown, the rotor p extends downwardly between the upturned flange a of the stator .casing and the double three-pronged field magnet d, the flange a serving also as a magnetic yoke. The cup a also contains a governor s and a condenser connected in series with the coils on the outer limb of the stator magnets, the coils on the inner limbs of which are connected directly across the supply.
