408,912. Heating feedwater. SUPERHEATER CO., 60, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Armacost, W. H. ; 153, W. 188th Street, New York, U.S.A.) Nov. 30, 1933, No. 33680. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1932. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] Steam, in passing from a boiler 1 to the supply main 7, is freed from suspended solids by allowing it to pass from a nozzle 6 into feedwater in a drum 2. Feedwater is admitted by a pipe 8 into a trough 9 in the drum 2 and passes thence under a baffle 10. The heated feedwater flows over a plate 12 to a discharge pipe 11, and a pump 15 delivers it to the boiler. The pump 15 is driven by a turbine 14 through which the main steam supply passes, and the supply and delivery of feedwater are controlled by float actuated valves 20, 19 and 18, 17. The pumping arrangement is necessitated by the drum 2 being at a lower level than the boiler 1.
